Coached clients finished 2003
in style.
The
2003 season built to a crescendo. You could feel the joy among
the athletes who had trained under USA Triathlon coach Jackie
Arcana. After a successful spring and summer of racing, triathletes
of all levels were sharing high fives and hugs at the Indian
summer finish lines of the Las Vegas Triathlon, the Blue Water
Triathlon and finally, the AARP TriUmph Triathlon in Henderson,
Nevada.
“One of the great rewards of coaching is sharing the
growth that people enjoy over the span of a single season.”
said Jackie. “We had people completing their first full
season, others breaking out of the middle of the pack to place
in or win their age groups and still others placing in the
overall. Most important is the achievement of goals they’d
set after sticking with it all season long.” Jackie’s
triathletes include Rosalie, Melodie, Gladys, Gina, Stephanie,
Sandi, Kaylee, Elena and Joe. After five years of full season
racing, John Zachary had his first age group win under Jackie’s
coaching, on the Las Vegas Triathlon’s sprint course.
Jackie herself performed like the true athlete that she is,
including strong finishes in major events like the Wildflower
Half Iron Man in truly miserable conditions, 4th in her age
group at the USAT Southwest Regional Championships, and 4th
overall woman in Parker, Arizona at a Mountain Man event.
There were numerous lifestyle victories. Training with exercise
physiologist John Zachary, people exercised, ate good diets,
lost body fat, managed their lives in the face of stress,
illness and injury, and improved their fitness and health.
The addition of online coaching will make the 2004 season
even more exciting for mature muscle clients.
